A compact Bends work with vertical bands of turquoise, olive, red and blue, punctuated by narrower orange and dark red lines. The repeated stripes give the painting a measured pulse, while the slight diagonal shifts keep the composition active.

It is a strong small-scale work, clear and graphic without being cold. The palette has a warmer, earthier tone than Bends 56, making it particularly easy to place in an interior that already uses greens, blues or terracotta shades.
